Registrations

01. What do I need to pick up my BIB and participation kit?

To pick up their BIBs and participation kits, runners just need to present their registration document (PDF sent by email).

02. What is the registration confirmation document?

The registration confirmation document is a PDF file emailed to all participants. This document includes the runner’s name, race, BIB number, and a bar code. To pick up the BIB and the participation kit, runners must present this document. The PDF can be printed or shown directly from the runner’s mobile phone. Check a PDF example here.

 

03. How can I find my registration document?

Your registration document (PDF document) was emailed to the runners email address used in the registration form. If you can’t find it, you can opt to:

  1. Confirm the email address used on the race registration
  2. Check the spam box
  3. Check the registration at the right top of the official race site homepage
  4. Visit the Solutions desk at the Sport Expo (where the BIBs and participation kits are delivered) and ask for the PDF on the spot

04. What I'm entitled to with my registration?

All duly registered participants are entitled to:

  1. Personalized BIB and timing chip
  2. Homologated time and classification diploma
  3. Official t-shirt and other sponsors offers
  4. Sports insurance and professional medical support along the course
  5. Aid, WC and music stations along the course
  6. Finisher medal
  7. Free public transportation on the race day (presenting the race BIB)

05. Is it possible to cancel or transfer my registration to the next edition?

For registrations issues, please send an email to info@maratonaportugal.com or visit us at the Solutions desk at the Sport Expo.

06. Can I run a race with a BIB of other distance?

No, runners without the correct race BIB will be prevented from participating.

08. Can I participate with a BIB from another runner?

No, the bibs are personal and non-transferable. Runners that race with the BIB from another person, if not prevented from running, will lose the insurance attributed to the original runner and will have his classification and diploma in the name of the original runner (it’s not possible to change it after the race).



BIB & participation kit pick up

01. Where can I pick my BIB and participation kit?

The BIBs and participation kits are delivered at the Sport Expo at the Centro de Congressos de Lisboa, at Junqueira, Lisbon.

02. When can I pick up my BIB and participation kit?

The Sport Expo will be open Thursday (23.10), and Friday (24.10), from 10h00 am to 08h00 pm.

No BIBs or participation kits are delivered on the race day.

03. What do I need to pick up my BIB and my participation kit?

To pick up their BIBs and participation kits, runners just need to present the PDF sent by email with their BIB number and a Bar Code at the bottom. The PDFs can be shown printed or directly from a mobile phone.

Runners who didn’t find their PDF can visit the Solutions desk at the Sport Expo and ask for their document.

04. Who can pick up my BIB and participation kit?

The BIBs and participation kits can be picked up by the runners themselves or by another person presenting the PDF sent by email.

05. What do I get with my participation kit?

All the participants will receive a personalized BIB (please don’t forget to pick up the safety pins to attach the BIB to your t-shirt), an official t-shirt (runners must choose their t-shirt size when picking it up), a sports bag, an exclusive bag for the bag drop service, and other offers from sponsors.

After opening the t-shirt package, it’s not possible to change!

06. I won't be able to arrive on time to pick up my BIB, what can I do?

Any runner can ask another person to pick up the BIB and the participation kit for him presenting the registration document (PDF sent by email). If a runner has nobody to ask, it may send an email info@maratonaportugal.com and the organization will try to find a way to deliver the BIB, but it’s not guaranteed.

No BIBs or participation kits are delivered on the race day.

07. I didn't pick up my BIB and participation kit on time. Is it possible to receive them later?

No BIBs or participation kits will be delivered or sent after the Sport Expo is closed.

08. Can a runner receive its BIB and participation kit by mail?

No BIBs or participation kits are sent by email, or delivered to any different address from the Sport Expo at the Centro de Congressos de Lisboa, at Junqueira, Lisbon.

09. When do I choose my t-shirt size, and what sizes are available?

The t-shirt size is chosen at the Sport Expo. The sizes available are SMLXL, and XXL.

10. The t-shirt I picked up is too small or too big, can I change it? How?

Only if the t-shirt package is still closed, if the t-shirt package is opened it’s not possible to change it.

11. I picked up the wrong BIB, what can I do?

If a runner picked up the wrong BIB he/she must go back to Sport Expo and ask to change the BIB. If it’s not possible, the runner must use the BIB and, after the race, send a message to info@maratonaportugal.com and ask to associate his/her information to the BIB used.

Only dully registerer runners will be able to replace the participation data.

12. Is it possible to buy the t-shirt or the participation kit without running?

No, the participation kit and the race t-shirts are an exclusive offer to runners and are not sold separately from the race registration.

13. Do I have to present a medical certificate to participate at the race?

Runners don’t need to present any medical certificate to participate in the race. When registering for the race, runners assume the responsibility for their health, and the preparation to participate.



Start line

01. Where is the starting line of the 2025 EDP Lisbon Marathon?

The start of the 2025 edition of the EDP Lisbon Marathon has a new location. The new start is in Carcavelos, on Estrada N6-7, in front of the Nova School of Business and Economics (about 20 km from the center of Lisbon).

02. At what time should I be at the starting line?

To ensure the best start for all participants, there will be five separate starting waves at six-minute intervals. The first start gun will be fired at 8:00 a.m., followed by additional starts at 8:06 am, 8:12 am, 8:18 am, and 8:24 am.

Start times have been assigned to each runner according to the predicted finish time they indicated during registration.

To make sure all participants arrive at the start on time, the organization asks all those traveling by train to take the train indicated on their BIB.

03. How can I get to the starting line from Lisbon?

Participants coming from Lisbon, the organization recommends taking the CP train departing from Cais do Sodré towards Carcavelos. Carcavelos train station is located about 1 km from the start.

The train from Cais do Sodré takes around 30 minutes to reach Carcavelos station. On race day, there will be several departures from Cais do Sodré at: 05:30 am, 06:00 am, 06:10 am, 06:20 am, 06:30 am, 06:40 am, 06:50 am, 07:00 am, and 07:20 am (see the timetable here).

After 07:20 am, it will not be possible to reach the start in time for the marathon.

Due to the large number of participants, the organization asks runners to take the train indicated on their BIB.

Participants choosing other means of transport (car, Uber, etc.) should plan their trip to ensure they arrive in Carcavelos with enough time to get to the start. Please note that some streets near the start will be closed due to the event.

Train travel is free for participants – they simply need to show their BIB.

04. How can I reach the starting line from Cascais?

Participants in Cascais can take the CP trains on the Cascais line towards Carcavelos. Trains depart from Cascais station at 05:30 am, 06:00 am, 06:30 am, 07:04 am, and 07:24 am.

Carcavelos train station is located about 1 km from the start.

At the end of the race, participants may return to Cascais free of charge by train until 5:00 p.m., upon presentation of their race bib.

05. What will I find at the starting area?

At the starting area, the runners will find Water, WCs, the bag drop truck, the starting waves boxes, and the starting line.

There will be six different pacers that runners can follow: 3h00, 3h15, 3h30, 3h45, 4h00, 4h15, 4h30, 4h45 e 5h00.

06. Can supporters travel to start line?

No, only runners with their BIBs can travel to start line.

07. How can I find which wave box I am?

The waves boxes were assigned according to the times registered on the registration form.

08. Can I change my starting box?

Runners that wish to change their starting box must go the Solutions desk at the Sport Expo and make their request.

09. I forgot to pick up the safety pins, what can I do?

Runners who forgot to pick up the safety pins to attach the BIB to the t-shirt can ask a staff member for pins. There’s no guarantee that the staff has enough safety pins for all requests.



The course

01. What should I know about the course?

The EDP Lisbon Marathon course is 100% by the sea or river, offering unique views along the 42 km course.

To assure that the runners have all the necessary support, the course includes 12 Aid Stations (offering water, gel, fruit, and isotonic drinks), 6 Music Stages (live bands or DJs), 14 WCs (most of them next to the Aid Stations), 3 Medical Stations (plus a field hospital at the finish line) and 3 Cool Station (at km 21, 32 and 37,5).

There’s also medical assistance along the course with over 200 medics, paramedics, nurses, and medical support ready to respond to any medical event during the race.

During the race, listen to your body. If you feel any discomfort, slow down, cool off, and, if necessary, ask for assistance from the medical teams available along the course. Your health always comes first!

03. Where and what will I find at the Aid Stations along the course?

In total, participants will have 12 aid stations available along the course, distributed as follows: km 5 Vitalis water; km 9.5 Vitalis water and Powerade; km 15 Vitalis water; km 20 Vitalis water and Powerade; km 22.5 Vitalis water and 226ERS gel; km 25 Vitalis water and fruit; km 27.5 Vitalis water; km 30 Vitalis water and Powerade; km 32.5 Vitalis water and 226ERS gel; km 35 Vitalis water and fruit; km 37.5 Vitalis water and Powerade; km 40 Vitalis water.

At the finish line, all finishers are entitled to an exclusive medal, Vitalis water, Powerade, fruit, Olá ice cream, and Mimosa Protein milk.

04. What is the time limit to finish the marathon?

The time limit to finish the EDP Lisbon Marathon is 6 hours (six hours).

05. Can I take my own supplies?

Yes, runners can take their own supplies (water, gel, isotonic drinks, fruit) although there is Aid Stations along the course with everything runners may need.

06. Is it mandatory to use the official race t-shirt at the race?

It’s not mandatory to use the official t-shirt at the race, but most runners like to use it. The official t-shirts are high-quality technical running t-shirts ready for the demands of a marathon race.



Finish line

01. Where is the finish line?

The finish line is at the Praça do Comércio at the Lisbon historical center in front of the Tejo river!

Access to the finish area is reserved for participants. Companions will have specific zones (EMEL Meeting Points), clearly marked, where they can meet the runners.

02. What will I get at the finish line?

At the finish line, all finishers will receive an exclusive medal and recover supplies such as water, Powerade, fruit, Olá ice cream, and Mimosa Proteína milk.

03. What will I find at the finish area?

After crossing the finish line and receiving their supplies, runners will find different animations and services available. You can check the finish area plant here.

  5. Engraving medal tent
  6. Massage tent

04. Who can use the medal engraving service?

Runners, that have subscribed to the engraving medal service, just need to present their BIBs at the tent. Runners, that haven’t subscribed to the engraving service, can buy the service at the tent.

05. What transport do I have available at the finish line?

Runners have free transportation until 05h00 pm on the race day. Runners can use the trains, buses, and subway trains at no charge by presenting their BIBs.

At Praça do Comércio, runners must search for the closest train, bus, and subway station and find the best solution for their trip.

02. Where can I find the provisional classifications?

03. Can't find my classification or my time is not correct, what can I do?

04. Where can I find the race photos?

The organization will publish photos at the race Facebook page. Runners can also find photos at the Marathon Photos site (these photos are paid).
